EastEnders to turn Theatrical?
The musical, Street of Dreams, is based on the ITV soap with narrator Paul O'Grady and a number of the actors of Corrie participating, covering iconic characters of the soap. The EastEnders exec will be attending the production to assess whether it's possible to move in that direction on the BBC.
Following the 25th Anniversary live show which finally provided us with the answer to who actually killed Archie Mitchell, it was proved that the format could be done successfully. However, I doubt we will be seeing the stars singing and dancing around the Vic any time soon as John Yorke claims that a similar live rendition of EastEnders would have to be more 'gritty' in line with the mood and expectation of the show.
The Ender's crew are, however, looking to expand; and live entertainment might just be the key.
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but watch this space.

JUNE BROWN takes break
June Brown is leaving the
soap for six months.
June, 85, known to millions as chain-smoker
Dot Cotton, wants a break from the hectic
filming schedule.
Friends say she plans to take a holiday and
write her memoirs.
June shocked the soap’s bosses by asking
for a year-long sabbatical before producers
agreed to her having a break of six months,
hoping she will return feeling refreshed.
A source said: “Some friends on the set
feared she may be considering a permanent
exit but EastEnders bosses are determined
to keep her and they have offered her six
months off which she has taken.
“She has admitted the filming can be
exhausting and she feels some time off is
long overdue.”
Her final scenes before the break were
filmed last week and will be screened in
around a fortnight.
Dot leaves to visit a friend and writers will
leave the door open for her return though
the launderette where she works will close.
Her departure will be another setback for
the soap which has been hit by cast taking
time off in recent years including Jessie
Wallace, who plays Kat Moon.
An EastEnders spokeswoman said yesterday:
“June is on a break but will be back in a few
months.”
And the star’s agent said: “June has taken
some time away from EastEnders to focus
on her autobiography but she will be
returning to the programme.”
Dot, whose surname changed to Branning in
2002, is one of the BBC show’s most popular
and longest running characters.
June joined the cast in 1985, months after
the show’s debut. She left the soap

Heather's Funeral: New Pics
Thursday, 5 April 2012
Lucy Beale saves a drunk Lauren Branning from a car of three random men.
After making her parents sick with grief because of her alcohol problem, Lauren Branning is now a concern for her friends too.
However, when the nightclub closes Lauren decides that she wants to continue the party and decides to go off with three strange men.
Her recent on screen antics have been so appalling that Jacqueline, 19, has been put off drinking in real life.
She told the Daily Star: 'I’ve not got drunk at all in five or six weeks because it makes me feel sick now.
'I watch myself on the show and don’t want my friends to think I’m like that.'

priscilla Said:
i didnt mind BK he had some good SL massods and yusef/the beginnings of lauren alcoholic SL look good/ tanya cancer SL is good, although could of been done better/heather murder spoliers looks good/pats death/rob whitney pimp comes back/janine and michael relationship
however his constant loving of the younger moons annoys me, i didnt like the tyler/whitney SL, kat/alfie permanently unhappy/lola baby/constant loving of derek (only want him in small doses
GetMeOuttaHere Said:
Only fair to start with the best and work my way down as he hasn't been all bad during his time as EP.
Best stories, Tanya's cancer, Lauren's binge drinking, Max and Tanya, Jack & Roxy, Janine, any story she has been involved in during BK's tenure has been good.
Charlie Brooks will always be the best actress of the younger generation IMO. Not sure who I would choose as best actor over the past 2 years, maybe Steve McFadden.
Underused characters, Kim and Heather. The latter needn't have been portrayed as the stereotypical fat woman. Heather at least deserved a decent exit storyline after being downtrodden for so long. More comedy scenes could be written for Kim if Easties could be bothered, she was hilarious in the wooden spoon/hostage scenes.
Worst character who has been totally spoiled under BK, Ben. There hasn't been a need to have him at the center of so many major storylines.
Worst exit, Pam St Clement, enough said.
Rocket562 Hit back at the Lauren's drinking storyline by saying:
How on earth can Laurens drunking be seen as a good storyline. Oh Laurens pissed again. How exciting! Not. - But GetMeOuttaHere Hit back saying: You've obviously failed to see the significance and links between Lauren's drinking and Tanya's cancer. Why do you think Lauren drinks the way she does?
Towers Said:
I like most of the new characters BK has introduced - Derek, Anthony, Ray, even new Ben - but he's seriously overused them since the new year ( not Ray ) seriously neglecting other characters that I like in the process including Christian, Syed, Kim and to a certain extent Janine - like Christian and Syed, she gets one or two decent episodes a month and that's it, hovering in the background the rest of the time.
I won't miss this aspect of Kirkwood's era, nor the higher-than-average feeling of violence and misery.

What he gave us:
Improved Janine's character no end and paired her with Michael who has also grown into a great character..can't wait for baby evil.
Cora + the development of Raine..hope she returns.
Love new Lauren and Ben as well as Lola.
It was good to have David Essex in the show, Eddie was a good character.
The B & B fire and Pat's demise were brilliant.
Like Mandy, although she seemed a strange match for Ian at first. Hope she's another one who stays around.
Having said all that it may take me a while to forgive him for Derek
There have been some things I haven't enjoyed and it's not been perfect but then it never has been.
bumpandgrind Said:
For me the main failure of his tenure has been Kat and Alfie. They had years of being off/on in their first stint, so bringing them back for more of the same was lazy and depressing viewing. When they are happy and bouncing off each other they are great. Shane and Jessie have a great partnership, which is seen off-screen when interviewed etc... and I do believe people like seeing them together.
Character regression back into 'Kat the slapper' and 'Alfie the ever forgiving nice guy' just grates on the viewer. Sure add some conflict, perhaps have them tempted to stray, but stop with the one night stands and constant break ups. Just let them be happy.
What makes the above worse is that they're running the pub - the focal building within the Square where the majority of characters meet and interact. Having two miserable sods not talking to one another in the middle of that creates a cold, uninviting atmosphere. Having them united behind the bar with some humour would make one hell of a difference.
